Initially after reading the description for this assignment I thought to myself, “oh perfect, I know exactly what I want to do.” I was thinking that I wanted to explore my family history and build a family tree. My family has an Ancestry account, and my aunt (on my mom’s side) has spent a couple of years working on it. On my dad’s side of the family, everyone is into family history. With that in mind, I decided that everything I would need is basically already set up for me, I would just have to add myself in. It wouldn’t be much work. So, I think I’ll save that project for another time.

With that idea shut down, I’ve been trying to think of what else I’d be interested in learning. Maybe how to change my own oil so I don’t have to rely on someone else to do it? But, I think I’d rather just pay someone to do that, it’s not something I’m really interested in. Maybe how to crotchet? I don’t think I’m patient enough for that.
Something I’ve been wanting to do for a while but haven’t yet is create a scrapbook. I know it seems pretty simple, but in the past when I’ve done similar crafts, they just don’t look as nice as I would like. I think there is definitely a skill set required to make it look nice. I would say I’m not very creative, which is something I would like to improve about myself. I think this could be a good opportunity to work on that and create something tangible at the same time. However, I’m not very patient and worry that the first time something doesn’t turn out the way I want it to, I might decide to give up.
I think there are a lot of learning opportunities with creating a scrapbook. I think it is something that would really push me in some ways, but also be very rewarding. It’s also something that I could continue doing for the rest of my life. Now that I’ve put some thought into it, I’m pretty excited to get started!
